The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) website, has school-related resources.  From their home page, click on “Schools and Childcare” to find The School Food Allergy Program, Food Allergy Action Plan, PAL (Protect a Life) program, and other helpful documents.

Teaching Kids about Food Allergies

PBS's Arthur show highlighted peanut allergies in the episode, "Binky Goes Nuts". (For air dates, check your local PBS listings). Go to the Arthur webpage for the Binky Goes Nuts Activity Unit and the Activity Placemat.

"TIME for Kids" magazine published an issue in October 2006 that had information and activities to teach kids about food allergies. Go to FAAN's Teen website to download their worksheets.

Alexander the Elephant books and DVD's from FAAN are great for teaching young children about food allergies. FAAN also has many training/teaching guides.

"Friends Helping Friends: Make It Your Goal" is a DVD for middle schoolers or teens, available through FAAN.

Anaphylaxis Canada has sample food allergy lesson plans for many grade levels. Go to Anaphylaxis Canada's website to view the lesson plans.
