If you or your child were recently diagnosed with a food allergy, you’re probably experiencing a mixture of emotions and thoughts. Confusion, shock, relief, fear, frustration, depression, hope, trepidation, pressure, lack of knowledge, or other feelings may occur. The first question that often comes to mind in the newly diagnosed is “What do I eat for my next meal?” or “What can I feed my child tonight?”
The Journey
The Food Allergy Support Group of Minnesota understands these feelings and questions, because we’ve been there. We’re food-allergic individuals and parents of kids with food allergies. We’ve each heard the doctor tell us what NOT to eat, and then had to discover for ourselves how to eat and live differently. Luckily, you won’t have to “reinvent the wheel”, because you can learn from people who have been there.
Adjusting to life with food allergies is not a simple task: it’s a journey. Like every journey, it has ups and downs. Think of it like taking a trip. Explore the phases of “The Journey” as you adjust to life with food allergies, and we’ll accompany you along the way!
