MINNEAPOLIS, MN. 5/7/10—More than 12 million Americans have food allergies. Diagnosis of a food allergy is complex, and there is no treatment besides strict avoidance of the allergens. May 9-15 marks national Food Allergy Awareness Week. The Food Allergy Support Group of Minnesota (FASGMN) will be participating in the week through an awareness campaign.

A new statement of food allergy information will be released through FASGMN’s Facebook page each day from May 9-15. Members of FASGMN’s Facebook group are encouraged to post the statements on their own Facebook pages to increase food allergy awareness. The statements will also be posted on FASGMN’s website for others to use to increase awareness.
